How it works with Google Workspace
- Download the file from Google In Docs or Sheets use File, then Download, and choose Microsoft Word (.docx) or Microsoft Excel (.xlsx), or PDF. All three work here.
- Drop it in A .docx is laid out exactly as written, a .xlsx the way Sheets would print it. Nothing needs converting and no copy of Office is required.
- Sign, stamp and seal Place the signature and the date, add a company stamp or a watermark if the document wants one, then download the sealed file.
- Put the signed copy back in Drive Upload it beside the original. The Google file stays as your editable draft and the sealed copy is the record, which is the right way round.

No, and the reason is worth stating: an add-on that signs documents needs broad Drive access, and most people asking this question want to sign one document rather than grant a permission forever. Downloading and signing takes about as long as approving the permission screen would.
How do I sign Google Docs electronically?
Download the doc as .docx or PDF, sign it here, and upload the signed copy back. Drawing a signature inside the Google Doc itself is worth avoiding: it is an object in an editable file, so anybody with edit access can move it onto different text, and there is no record of what the document said when you signed it.
Can I insert a signature in Google Docs instead?
You can draw one with Insert, Drawing, and it will look right. What it will not do is record who signed, when, or give the recipient any way to check the file afterwards, which is the difference between a picture and evidence.
Is there a DocuSign Google Drive integration, and do I need the equivalent?
A DocuSign Google Drive integration exists, as do several others, and they all do what integrations do: save you a download and ask for access to your Drive in exchange. Ours is the download. For one contract a month that is the better trade, and for a hundred it is not, which is what the API is for.
